Healing Our Forests
The Yumbo Mashpi Foundation, in collaboration with the Mashpi Amagusa Reserve, manages a nursery area focused on the restoration of the Chocó Andino forest. In this space, we cultivate native species for reforestation efforts, directly contributing to the recovery of this ecosystem.

A cycle that restores the forest
Each plant is born from seeds collected in the forest itself, grows under our care, and returns to its environment to help recover what has been lost. This effort is part of a broader restoration initiative, where we combine actions to strengthen the forest and protect one of the planet’s most biodiverse ecosystems.
Collection

We select native seeds directly from the forest, ensuring adaptation to the environment.
Germination

Seeds are placed in suitable conditions to sprout and begin their growth.
Growth

We transplant seedlings into bags where they continue to grow with more space and nutrients.
Maintenance

We care for the plants with watering, shade, and constant monitoring to ensure their healthy development.
Restoration

The plants are moved to the forest to restore areas and strengthen the ecosystem’s life.
Our purpose is for the cultivated plants to return to the forest, supporting reforestation in Mashpi and the recovery of its ecosystems through the donation of native trees.
