Yumbo Mashpi Reserve
The Yumbo Mashpi Reserve exists to conserve, protect, and restore the forests and watersheds of Alto Mashpi and the Waycuyacu corridor.
We emerged from the urgent need to defend the last remnants of primary forest, which are disappearing day by day due to the expansion of cattle ranching and logging, by creating sustainable development alternatives that respect the environment and benefit local communities.
With the support of American Bird Conservancy and Conserva Aves, we now protect 29 hectares of primary forest, and we continue raising funds to expand this reserve and protect more hectares of native forest.
Cloud Forest Species
These are some of the species that inhabit the Alto Mashpi Cloud Forest, an ecosystem of extraordinary biodiversity that the Yumbo Mashpi Foundation works to protect. From endemic birds to orchids, mosses, and insects, each image is a testament to the natural richness we seek to conserve for future generations.
